Lyrics & Lines

DIME's Songwriting instructor, Audra Kubat, will help you hone your skills wordsmith in this six week course. Subjects include dissecting simile, metaphors, and idioms, as well as telling a story through your song. She will also pass on excercises to work through writer's block, allowing songwriters to jump start their creative process even when the well seems dry. This course culminates with a performance of students' original songs on DIME's amazing Underground stage!

Artist Management

How does an artist forge a path from the local clubs to the top of the charts? This informative course led by Ramona Caldwell will examine the basics of managing an artist’s career including branding, booking, building a business model, negotiating contracts, and more. Whether you are an artist hoping to guide your own projects to success, or an entrepreneur interested in working within the business side of music, this course will help to create a strong foundation of industry knowledge and understanding.

Music Production 101

Learn the basics of music production using a DAW (digital audio workstation). Learn about signal flow, microphones, and even copyright and licensing to create and protect your recordings. Drew Schultz is a drummer, percussionist, bandleader, who has been recording for himself and others for years. He will share his knowledge with students on this course, helping them to create their best sounding demos yet!

We'll meet on Tuesday nights for 6 weeks. Performance based classes will conclude with a performance in The Underground on the 6th week of class.
